The Oregon Sustainability Board


The Oregon Sustainability Board works to find solutions that enhance Oregon's practice and spirit of sustainability. The board was created under the Oregon Sustainability Act of the 71st Oregon Legislative Assembly, House Bill 3948. The excerpt below was taken from Section 2.1 of the Oregon Sustainability Act.


"There is created within the Oregon Department of Administrative Services a Sustainability Board consisting of the Governor or the Governor's representative and seven additional members appointed by the Governor. In appointing members, the Governor shall seek to appoint persons from all geographic regions of the state and from all communities who have a demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative and collaborative manner with people of diverse interests.

The Governor shall appoint members from the following fields who have experience in matters pertinent to the effective operation of the board:

  1. One representative of business;
  2. One representative of small business;
  3. Three members with experience in natural resources, community health or economics;
  4. One member with experience in promoting sustainability; and
  5. One member with experience in promoting conservation of natural resources."


The Sustainability Board works to find solutions that enhance Oregon's practice and spirit of sustainability.

Members

"The Oregon Sustainablilty Board ("Board) shall continue as an executive branch board serving at the pleasure of the Governor. The Board shall consist of 11 members representing business, local government and natural resource sectors and shall reflect the geographic diversity of Oregon. The members of the Board, including the Chair, will be appointed by the Governor."
