Oregon State Agency Sustainability Updates

Oregon state agencies have a long history of working to achieve a balance between Oregon's environment, economy, and its communities. However, the Oregon Sustainability Executive Order calls for state agencies to examine their own ecologic footprints and make improvements in order to support the creation of healthy communities and a vibrant economies, all within a flourishing environment.

Statements of Progress

Beginning in the fall of 2004, each State Agency began issuing semi-annual Statements of Progress regarding their Sustainability Plan for the Oregon Sustainability Board. They are available to download as pdf documents:

State Agency Sustainability Plans

As directed in Governor Kulongoski's Executive Order "A Sustainable Oregon for the 21st Century," twenty State Agencies began submitting their Sustainability Plans to the Oregon Sustainability Board in January. As of June 18th, all twenty State Agency Sustainability Plans have been approved by the Sustainability Board. State Agency Guidance for Implementing Governor Kulongoski’s Executive Order 03-03, “A Sustainable Oregon for the 21st Century”

Issued by the Sustainability Board, the State Agency Guidance helps state agencies implement sustainability and achieve concrete objectives.

Oregon State Agency Sustainability Report

A Summary of State Sustainability Projects
Initiated May 2000 through December 2002

This extensive report presents the progress state government has made since announcement of the Governor's Executive Order in 2000 and passage of the Sustainability Act by Oregon State Legislature in 2001, including projects from 22 agencies and 18 boards and commissions.
